Lord of Wisdom, Remover of Obstacles, Protector, Bringer of Good Fortune, Lord of Categories

Lord Ganesha is a Hindu diety who is one of the most beloved. His protection and blessing is asked before starting any activity or enterprise.

Lord Ganesha has many names: Ganesha, Ganapathi, Vinayaka Vighneswara, among others for a total of 108; and many attibutes. He is and Remover of Obstacles, also called Lord of Obstacles, in both the spiritual and earthly. He can remove obstacles from your path at the asking. He can place obstacles in your path to guide you to the right action. He is Lord of Wisdom because of his guidance to wisdom and enlightenment. He is protector, just ask him for protection. He is Lord of Categories, all that can be perceived and exists on this earth plane -- he can bring you any success or abundance or good luck on this plane. He is also Lord of Creativity, bringing creativity and imagination.

Symbolically, the visual of Lord Ganesha can help us in our lives by pointing the way to clear thinking and behavior. Lord Ganesha's big elephant head inspires us to think big and think profitably. His small eyes point to concentration needed to finish tasks well and quickly.His long nose tells us to poke around inquisitively to learn more, and not to just accept everything at face value. Lastly, his small mouth and big ears remind us to speak less and listen more.

Lord Ganesha is very special to me. I have done the rounds of the 108 bead japa mala in his name. I am not Hindu, but Lord Ganesha is special, nonetheless, and I am blessed.

Lord Ganesha shows up in my work and my collections fairly regularly, whether obviously or subtly.
